Ready for the 15-mile hike?

Hi Pathfinders and Parents,

Just a reminder for those coming on the hike to Dollar Lake.

Good idea to wear sunscreen, a good pair of comfortable shoes or hiking boots, and layers for your clothing. It will be cool in the morning and gradually get warmer but you may need your layers back on toward the end of the day if you get cold.

Bring a day pack to carry any unwanted clothing and maybe some trail snacks to keep your energy up. The leaders will be carrying a small trowel/shovel and wipes if you need those items during the hike or you can bring your own.

The following are a MUST haves:

  • Signed permission slip
  • Water for all day ~ 3 Liters
  • Lunch
  • $3.00 per person (help pay for the parking passes for the vehicles and extra water for the hikers once they return from the hike.)
By everyone meeting at the church on Sunday we may be able to carpool up to the trailhead and not need to drive too many cars up.
I would like to encourage each of you to get to know some of the other Pathfinders during this hike. It is a good time to get to know those who are new and also to reconnect to those whom you don't get to spend a lot of time with.

See you all on Sunday at the church at 7:00 am or at the trail head at 8:00 am.
Every vehicle must have an adventure parking pass at the trailhead parking. These will be given out at the church if you do not have one.

If you are a little unsure of this hike remember PHILLIPIANS 4:13!!!!
Take Care and remember to get some rest Saturday night!!!!

Director Mike

First Meeting - A great start!

First Meeting - A great start! Over 30 Pathfinders attended the first monthly meeting. Teachers Mike and Ellen had everything in order and we had a wonderful and fun meeting. Pathfinders were divided in 7 smaller groups and had the chance to pick a name for their groups. Each Pathfinder were given a folder where activities and printed material for the year will be kept.
We are officially a Pathfinder Club!   We had our first meeting, we have been blessed by the Azure Hills Church family and we had our first outing.  Thank you all for making this day great!   I would like to express great gratitude to those brave and devoted Pathfinders who braved the triple digit temperatures on Sabbath afternoon. You all deserve a Severe Weather Hiking Honor for your courage and dedication!  It was through God's grace that we did not experience any major issues. I am glad that everyone had a great time (in spite of the extreme heat). Well at least we can claim that we were tempered by fire!!! ;-)

Pathfinder Ski/Snowboard Day

Ski/Snowboarding Day Click on picture for Photo Album Hello Pathfinders and Parents! Wow! I really enjoyed snowboarding yesterday. I hope you did, too. The weather could have been better, but then again, it could have been worse. We had sunshine most of the morning and part of the afternoon. By 3 pm the visibility was very poor, but some of you just kept going! Brave ones! I hope you all had a safe drive back home (and are back in school today -- I'm back to work!). Michael and Thomas , you two are going to be great snowboarders some day. You're already leaving your parents behind! Summer , you get better and better every time you go skiing. Maybe someday you'll try snowboarding? Jenny and Gaby ...boarding part of the day and skiing part of the day...you showed that "you got skill" Chris -- well, you and your brother are the "terrors on the slopes" -- fearless just like your dad Emily, you are a good skier. You can keep up with the best of them. Maybe ...
