Presidential Fitness Night

March 6, 2013 was an evening of stretching, running and reaching. The Pathfinders had the opportunity to show how fast, and flexible they are by participating in the Presidential Fitness Challenge.

The Physical Fitness Test recognizes participants for their level of physical fitness in five activities:
  • Curl-ups (or partial curl-ups)
  • Shuttle run
  • Endurance run/walk
  • Pull-ups (or right angle push-ups or flexed-arm hang)
  • V-sit reach (or sit and reach)
We know that just completing all five activities is an accomplishment. To celebrate this fitness feat,  three awards are offered to the participants, based on their scores.

Presidential Physical Fitness Award
Wow! These kids are seriously fit! This award recognizes participants who achieve an outstanding level of physical fitness. To earn this award, participants must score at or above the 85th percentile on all five activities.

National Physical Fitness Award
Impressive! These kids clearly have a great fundamental level of fitness. Participants earn this award for scoring above the 50th percentile on all five activities.
Participant Physical Fitness Award
Woo hoo! There’s room for improvement, but these participants showed great heart. Participants earn this award if they participate in all five activities, and one or more of their scores fall below the 50th percentile.
Here are some pictures of the event. Good job Pathfinders!

Outreach Activity at Reche Canyon Rehab Center

The residents of Reche Canyon Rehab Center had a musical treat this past Saturday. The Pathfinders sang and played their instruments and at the end interacted with all of them. Thank you to the parents who were present and sang with us. Good job Pathfinders! May God bless you all and continue developing your musical talents for His honor and glory and for the good of others. See below for the pictures of this event.

Ready for the first Pathfinder's meeting?

We had a nice registration evening last Tuesday (8/17). Almost 40 Pathfinders registered for the 2010-2011 year. Some of these Pathfinders are being promoted from Adventurers, others have been with the club for some time and there is a special group of new kids joining the club for the first time. We would like to welcome all to the club and we are looking forward to know you better. If you would like to join the club and didn't have a chance to come during the registration evening please contact the directors Mike and Ellen as soon as possible. Please email them at mesabangan@sbcglobal.net to learn what you need to do. Our first meeting is September 1st at 6 pm at Azure Hills Church. Instructor Ed Dinger will be teaching the Cycling Honor. He is asking that every Pathfinder bring their own bike helmet to the meeting. Please take time to read the information packet you have received during registration. You may find a copy of the information at this page (right side column under ...

Pathfinders' Sabbath

Pathfinder's Sabbath Click on picture for photo album The Pathfinders were responsible for the second service on Sabbath May 14, 2011. They participated in all parts of the program and played and sang the song "I know the plans I have for you" by LordSong. Pastor John Brunt's sermon (Kids did it) reminded us that no matter how young or old you are, there is always something you can do to make a difference in the life of others. He told us about many instances when kids made things that initially seem small and insignificant but at the end became a wonderful project and made a lot of difference to the community. This was officially the last activity of the Pathfinders' Club for the year 2010-2011. Enjoy your summer vacation and we will see you all in August for another exciting year.
