Dogwood Camping Trip

Hello Pathfinders and Parents!
What a weekend! We thank God for watching over us and for giving us great weather and wonderful company.
A BIG thank you to...

  • Pastor Dante for hauling the trailer up to the campsite on Friday, helping set up camp, giving the vespers devotional, and driving back up on Sunday to haul the trailer back down to the church.

  • All our Parent counselors and other parents who helped supervise our very active group of Pathfinders and who helped with the meals and cleanup afterwards: the Dingers, Yonemotos, Heidi Meyer, the Lawtons, Magda Torres, Nancy Wolfe, the Sandholms, Brian Whitley, Gabe Casas, Bill Rusler, Lincoln Maynes, the Pearsons, the Thompsons, the Kralls, the Michels, Brad Herrick, Darlene Perkins, Nery Pereira, the Duffies .... and I know I am missing names and I apologize in advance....

  • Vivian Makowski for the delicious Spanish Rice -- we had it for Sabbath lunch, Sabbath supper AND Sunday breakfast. All gone!

  • Thomas Makowski for the the Bible Game

  • Pastor John Choi for the Sabbath talk

  • Ernie Medina for the scavenger hunt

  • Our deputy directors/associate directors -- Mark Perkins, Paulo Pereira, and Nanci Choi -- for doing everything you needed to do to make the weekend run smoothly

  • All the Unit Captains who did their best in keeping their unit members informed and in-line: Alexander Hilton, Nathaniel Choi, Grant Yonemoto, Kayla Casas, Yumi Lawton, Nelson Phillips, Julianne Magakat, Christian Nieman, Hannah Sabangan, Julia Dinger, Daniel Busi, Karen Braga, and Emily Choi.

  • The church for all the support (and for letting us use the eight burner grill ... )

This camping trip had many "FIRSTS". This was our first time camping in Dogwood; our first attempt at "going green"; the first time all the units cooked their own Sabbath breakfast; the first time camping without the Adventurers; the first time we could take hot showers without using quarters; the first time for me to hear an owl @ 4:00am; and the first time for me to eat "scrambled" pancakes. LOL.

Thank you again and if you missed this camping trip make sure you sign up for the Pacific Union Camporee, March 28, 2012 to April 1, 2012 which will be held @ Glen Helen Park.

First Meeting - A great start!

First Meeting - A great start! Over 30 Pathfinders attended the first monthly meeting. Teachers Mike and Ellen had everything in order and we had a wonderful and fun meeting. Pathfinders were divided in 7 smaller groups and had the chance to pick a name for their groups. Each Pathfinder were given a folder where activities and printed material for the year will be kept.
We are officially a Pathfinder Club!   We had our first meeting, we have been blessed by the Azure Hills Church family and we had our first outing.  Thank you all for making this day great!   I would like to express great gratitude to those brave and devoted Pathfinders who braved the triple digit temperatures on Sabbath afternoon. You all deserve a Severe Weather Hiking Honor for your courage and dedication!  It was through God's grace that we did not experience any major issues. I am glad that everyone had a great time (in spite of the extreme heat). Well at least we can claim that we were tempered by fire!!! ;-)

Pathfinder Ski/Snowboard Day

Ski/Snowboarding Day Click on picture for Photo Album Hello Pathfinders and Parents! Wow! I really enjoyed snowboarding yesterday. I hope you did, too. The weather could have been better, but then again, it could have been worse. We had sunshine most of the morning and part of the afternoon. By 3 pm the visibility was very poor, but some of you just kept going! Brave ones! I hope you all had a safe drive back home (and are back in school today -- I'm back to work!). Michael and Thomas , you two are going to be great snowboarders some day. You're already leaving your parents behind! Summer , you get better and better every time you go skiing. Maybe someday you'll try snowboarding? Jenny and Gaby ...boarding part of the day and skiing part of the day...you showed that "you got skill" Chris -- well, you and your brother are the "terrors on the slopes" -- fearless just like your dad Emily, you are a good skier. You can keep up with the best of them. Maybe ...
